100+ real-life Medics share their #1 insights, ideas and strategies for overcoming burnout...

Hey, this is David from Okay Doctor (www.okaydoctor.net), and I have made this book for you called “Medic SOS” featuring over 100 off-the-cuff/impromptu answers to a single question that I’ve asked real-life Medics from around the world.

Here's why.

Every day, around 20 Medics worldwide die by suicide (World Health Organization, 2022). This is Doctors, Medical students, other healthcare professionals…our friends, colleagues, and loved ones.

The tragic irony of this is that simply being a Medic makes a person statistically 3 times more vulnerable to death by suicide than the patients that Medic is trained to serve.

This is wrong on every level.

This is why, after recently encouraging a Doctor in distress on Facebook, I felt inspired to put together a book that gathers encouragement, insights, and strategies for overcoming burnout.

And to make it more potent, I decided to reach out to 100+ real-life Medics who understand what this feels like and are able to share from their personal experiences of battling against the weight of burnout.

Some of the 100+ generous contributors to the project:

  • Amandip Sidhu (Founder of ‘Doctors in Distress’)
  • Dr Vishaal Virani (Head of Health, YouTube)
  • Dr Ally Jaffee (NHS Doctor, Nutritank Co-founder, Mental Health Speaker)
  • Dr Lisa Saldanha (Ex-Doctor, Medical Educator)
  • Dr Daniel Grace (Portfolio GP, Expedition Doctor)
  • Brittany Busse, MD (Co-founder and Chief Medical Officer of ViTelHealth)
  • Leah Brooks (Final year medical student, award-winning Mental Health Advocate)
  • Dominic Corrigan MD (Recovering Physician, Co-founder of Physicians Anonymous)
  • Mat Daniel (Surgeon, Career Coach for Doctors)
  • Sonya Hashmi (Doctor, Travel Consultant)
  • Paul DeChant (Speaker, Author, Coach)
  • Lydie Kitenge (Medical Student, Founder of Journey2Med & Content Creator)
  • Elisha Peterson (Anesthesiology, Pain Medicine Physician, Speaker, Corporate Consultant)
  • Dr Azmain Chowdhury (Content Creator & Health Educator, 400K+ followers on Instagram, TikTok & YouTube)

…and many others.

Aside from creating a valuable resource gathering best practices in one document…one goal of this book is to help raise £10,000 for a relevant charity that helps Doctors struggling with burnout.

That's why there are 2 ways to get hold of this book.

#1 If you don't have the money right now, or would like to check out the book before spending anything on it, you can read it for FREE. Just select the amount you'd like to pay as zero, and you'll be able to get a free digital copy of the book. All I ask, if it's valuable, is that you spread the word about how it's helped you.

#2 Take a moment to think about what you'd be HAPPY to pay...and then pay it. As I said, my financial goal for Medic S.O.S is to raise £10,000 for a charity that helps Doctors struggling with burnout. To choose this charity, I surveyed the contributors to Medic S.O.S, and the top 5 ones they suggested/voted for were:

  • Doctors in Distress
  • You Okay Doc?
  • The Lorna Breen Foundation
  • Physicians Anonymous
  • Practitioner Health

My plan is to divide the £10,000 raised from the sales of Medic S.O.S between these 5 charities in order to support their ongoing work of helping Doctors who are struggling with burnout and other related challenges.

If this idea resonates with you, then pick an amount of money that you would be delighted to spend on this book (and not a penny more, only pay what you'd be HAPPY to spend), enter that amount and you'll be sent a copy of the book.

And when you get it, please reach out to any of the people in it, and say hi.

Thanks in advance and I look forward to continuing this conversation once you've checked out the book.

Cheers,
David
